HackerTube: YouTube built from videos recommended by HN

A developer created HackerTube, a YouTube alternative curated from videos recommended on Hacker News, after becoming frustrated with YouTube's algorithm-driven content. Using Claude Opus, they extracted 6,454 videos from 40,000 Hacker News comments spanning topics from 2007-2026, then built a custom interface with features like improved thumbnails, personalized recommendations without user tracking, and keyboard shortcuts. The entire project was completed in about two hours.
