Good Culture Is the Biggest Productivity Hack, Not AI

While AI tools can boost productivity, they only deliver meaningful results when built on a foundation of strong organizational culture. Poor culture—particularly messaging that AI will replace workers—undermines psychological safety and employee engagement, ultimately sabotaging productivity gains regardless of which tools are deployed. The author argues that fostering trust, psychological safety, and a positive work environment is a more critical productivity lever than any technology, having observed this throughout a 13+ year engineering career.
