GIMP Development Update

The GIMP development team announced progress on GIMP 3.3.2, featuring a new zipped XML-based project file format to replace the binary XCF format from 1997, enabling faster saves and future features like auto-saving and multi-page support while maintaining backward compatibility. Additional improvements include spectral blending for the MyPaint Brush tool, non-destructive editing capabilities, enhanced PSD support, and native file chooser dialogs, with further developments planned for GIMP 3.4 and 3.6.
