Khalid Alshaikh has created GE-97 Terminal, a browser-based Windows 98 emulator that allows users to experience the 1990s internet as it actually functioned, rather than viewing it as static archive material—complete with working Flash, Java, and MIDI audio. The project serves as a living archive of early web history while documenting Saudi Arabian history and hosting live radio broadcasts from his station 7Z1FP. The site represents an attempt to preserve not just the content of the old internet, but the entire experience and environment in which it was used.
