Garry Tan, CEO of Y Combinator, posted on X accusing journalist Radley Balko of unethical reporting for asking San Francisco TV reporter Dion Lim about her sources, claiming Balko and District Attorney Chesa Boudin's office orchestrated a media attack on Lim's coverage of anti-Asian hate crimes. Balko responds by clarifying that he was initially contacted by Boudin's office (not the other way around) and that his subsequent Washington Post article about Lim's reporting methods was based on his independent reporting, not a coordinated effort to discredit her.
