A fake US think tank called the Hanover Institute, funded and set up by Israel, published over 560,000 words across 124 reports in nine days using a platform designed to optimize content for AI chatbots to cite in their responses. The site presents pro-Israel arguments on controversial topics like Palestinian torture and Gaza starvation as neutral research, and has been registered with the US Justice Department as foreign agent material distributed for the Israeli government. The effort is part of a broader, tens-of-millions-dollar Israeli government campaign to manipulate AI systems into promoting Israel's messaging.
