F3 is a next-generation open-source data file format designed to improve upon legacy formats like Parquet by offering better efficiency, interoperability, and extensibility through embedded WebAssembly decoders that ensure compatibility across platforms. The format addresses the layout shortcomings of decade-old columnar storage formats and allows developers to easily add new encoding schemes without requiring a complete format redesign. However, this is currently a research prototype and should not be used in production environments.
