Every processor die anyone has photographed and given away
|
A collection of 356 processor dies photographed and published by a handful of enthusiasts—primarily Pauli Rautakorpi, ZeptoBars, John McMaster, and Fritzchens Fritz—documents the evolution of computer chips from 1972 to 2024. The images are made possible by removing the chip's protective package through sanding or dissolving it, then photographing the exposed silicon die under a microscope. The interactive gallery allows viewers to compare processors across different decades and manufacturers, revealing dramatic size reductions as semiconductor technology has advanced over five decades.
