EU fines Google €890M for competition breaches over search and apps

The EU has fined Google €890 million for breaching competition laws by prioritizing its own services in search results and preventing app developers from directing consumers to cheaper alternatives outside Google's app store. The fine comprises €460 million for search-related violations and €430 million for app store breaches under the Digital Markets Act. Google has been ordered to treat third-party services fairly and non-discriminatorily in search results, and the company has already begun testing changes to comply with the ruling.
