Dream Labs launched Dream-1, a bimanual robot that can perform tasks immediately through an API without fine-tuning or machine learning expertise, backed by $90M in seed funding. The company argues that cheaper robot hardware (now as low as $2,000) combined with generalizable AI models can finally break robotics' "chicken-and-egg problem," where robots need to be useful before people buy them but need user data to become useful. This creates a flywheel where affordable robots generate real-world data that improves AI models for the next generation of robots.
