Distributed Proofreaders
Distributed Proofreaders is a crowdsourced platform that converts public domain books into e-books by dividing the work into individual pages that multiple volunteers proofread and format simultaneously. The process involves volunteers comparing scanned page images with OCR text, completing multiple proofreading and formatting rounds, before the final e-book is submitted to Project Gutenberg. The organization has preserved over 51,000 titles and welcomes volunteers of any commitment level to participate in this free literary preservation effort.
