Design Is Compromise

# Summary Design inherently involves making tradeoffs between competing priorities, and good design means making intentional choices about what to prioritize and what to be weaker at. Rather than claiming products have "no compromises," designers should be transparent and proud of their opinionated tradeoffs, as products that excel at specific things are more valuable than those that aim to be mediocre at everything. The mark of excellent design is choosing the right compromises for your audience, not attempting to appeal to everyone equally.
