Decathlon Germany adds Wero payment option to decathlon.de website

Decathlon Germany became the first major retailer in the French group's international operations to offer Wero, a European bank-backed payment system, on its website starting July 20, 2026. The move represents a significant test case for Wero, which routes payments directly between bank accounts and could help retailers reduce card processing fees of 1-2 percent. Decathlon plans to expand Wero to its 110 German physical stores and is partnering with the European Payments Initiative on a promotional campaign offering €10 vouchers to customers who use the payment method.
