Cops Can Bypass iPhone's Automatic Reboot to Get into Locked Phones
Magnet Forensics claims to have developed technology that bypasses Apple's "inactivity reboot" feature, which automatically reboots iPhones after 72 hours of non-use to prevent police access to sensitive data. The new GrayKey Preserve device and Evidence Preservation Mode feature allow law enforcement to keep iPhones in an unlocked state and preserve data that would otherwise be deleted, according to a leaked promotional video. This represents the latest development in the ongoing battle between Apple and forensics companies that help law enforcement break into iPhones.
