Anthropic has released Claude Haiku 5.5, a smaller and more affordable model that costs approximately 75% less to run than its predecessor while delivering improved performance across benchmarks. The model is optimized for high-volume, cost-sensitive tasks such as customer support, database queries, and computer use, and features an adjustable effort setting that allows users to balance cost versus capability. Anthropic also reduced prices for Claude Sonnet 5.5's cache reads by half and introduced new API credits for subscribers.
