Claude Desktop spins up a VM without no way of stopping it

Claude Desktop on Windows is automatically spawning a 1.8 GB Hyper-V virtual machine on every launch, even when users only need chat functionality and aren't using code execution features. The VM persists despite having no other virtualization tools installed, consuming over 11% of RAM on a 16 GB system and causing noticeable performance degradation. Users report the issue occurs repeatedly even after deleting accumulated session files and killing the VM processes, with no apparent way to disable this behavior.
