Anthropic's Claude AI designed 211 protein binders targeting scorpion neurotoxins, with 17 meeting binding criteria when experimentally tested by partner organizations, offering a potential foundation for developing scorpion antivenoms. This work demonstrates how AI could accelerate drug discovery for neglected tropical diseases like scorpion envenomation, which kills over 3,250 people annually, mostly in regions with limited medical access. All 211 designs and their data have been released publicly as a resource for the research community.
