Caltech Mathathon – first hackathon ever devoted to research level mathematics

Caltech is hosting the first-ever hackathon devoted to research-level mathematics on October 30th-November 1st, where 100 teams will use frontier AI models to solve open mathematical conjectures within 40 hours. The event is motivated by recent breakthroughs in AI-assisted mathematics, including the disproof of a conjecture open for 80 years and the construction of previously elusive mathematical structures, raising questions about AI's role in accelerating mathematical research and publication.
