Building a Wall Lamp from Scratch

An author spent eight months designing and building a wall lamp from scratch despite having no prior experience in woodworking or LED work. Starting with a simpler bedroom lamp project as a learning exercise, they created a beech wood lamp with backlit Plexiglas panels and individually controllable LEDs, using an aluminum extrusion frame to connect the wooden panels without visible bolts. The project began in May 2025 after purchasing a discounted beech wood countertop, with detailed mock-ups guiding the design process.
