By embedding identifiers, photographs, locality data, and Darwin Core mappings into a single HTML file that requires no external servers or accounts, the system ensures specimen information remains accurate and accessible throughout a collecting career. The approach addresses the problem that traditional herbarium digitization arrives too late in the process, with current systems losing critical provenance information during the specimen's journey through pressing, drying, and cataloging.
