BMW iX5 Blows Away the Competition with 460-KW Charging, 435-Mile Range

BMW unveiled the iX5, its first fully electric SUV to be manufactured in the U.S., featuring 460-kW ultra-fast charging capable of adding 170 miles in just 10 minutes and an estimated 435-mile range. The vehicle uses BMW's largest battery pack with 144 kilowatt-hours of usable energy and Gen6 800-volt battery technology with taller cylindrical cells that provide 30% more energy than previous models. The iX5 will launch in the first quarter of 2027 and will use locally-assembled batteries from BMW's South Carolina facility, positioning it among the fastest-charging electric SUVs available in America.
