Black Hole Museum: A New Idea for the Los Alamos Community (2025)
Ed Grothus, a former Los Alamos National Laboratory machinist turned anti-nuclear activist, operated the Black Hole, a unique store that collected and sold salvaged equipment from the lab for peaceful reuse and became a major tourist attraction. Documentary photographer Janire Najera has curated Grothus' legacy through exhibits, photographs, and a book titled "Atomic Ed," and there is now interest in creating a permanent Black Hole Museum in Los Alamos to display this collection and tell the story of the nuclear weapons program and activism.
