AWS Acquires DuckDB

AWS has acquired DuckLabs, the company behind the popular open-source database project DuckDB, with the acquisition expected to close in early September. The DuckLabs team will remain together in Amsterdam, and DuckDB and other projects in the "Duck Stack" will continue as free, open-source software under the MIT license, overseen by the nonprofit DuckDB Foundation. The acquisition provides DuckDB with greater resources and reach to scale the technology while maintaining its open-source foundations and community focus.
