ArXiv receives multiyear commitments to support it as an independent nonprofit

Three major philanthropic organizations—Simons Foundation International, XTX Markets, and Siegel Family Endowment—have committed $17.2 million over three to five years to support arXiv's transition to an independent nonprofit. The funding will strengthen the platform's technical infrastructure, support ongoing operations, and improve services for the millions of researchers who rely on arXiv annually across physics, mathematics, computer science, and other fields. This investment builds on arXiv's 35-year history as a trusted venue for sharing scientific findings and will help address emerging challenges such as AI-generated content management.
