Anthropic's Scion is heavily inspired by Mononoke

Anthropic's new version control system, Scion, uses "derived data" concepts nearly identical to Meta's open-source Mononoke system from 2017-18, yet Anthropic's announcement credits only Sapling and omits Mononoke entirely. The author argues this amounts to inadequate attribution, especially problematic as LLMs increasingly assist in system design and have Mononoke in their training data, making it easier—and more imperative—to properly credit prior work.
