Canadian poet and essayist Anne Carson has won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature, recognized by the Swedish Academy for her "bold and inventive oeuvre" that blends poetry, prose, and classical traditions. Known for genre-crossing works including her best-known novel in verse *Autobiography of Red*, Carson is celebrated for creating innovative literary forms that engage with ancient Greek literature and mythology. The 76-year-old Toronto-born writer will receive the medal and diploma at a ceremony in Stockholm in December.
