Alibaba's Damo Academy has open-sourced an AI model called Damo Radar that can detect nearly 150 abdominal conditions, including cancers, by analyzing CT scans of 18 organs. Tested on nearly 40,000 real-world examinations, the model achieved an average diagnostic accuracy (AUC) of 0.913 and outperformed most radiologists. The company describes it as the world's first expert-level generalist medical imaging model, with potential to be extended to other types of medical imaging.
