Alberta (Canada) slaps punitive tax on solar panels

Alberta's United Conservative Party government has imposed a $14-per-panel recycling fee on solar panels, effective October 1, along with a ban on solar panels in landfills. The Business Renewables Centre-Canada condemned the fee as a "punitive tax" that is 139 to 3500 percent higher than recycling fees in any other jurisdiction worldwide, calling it part of a pattern of arbitrary costs placed on the renewable energy industry without proper justification.
