AI is not a normal technology

The fundamental debate about AI's uniqueness centers on whether it can eventually perform every task a human can do, but better. Unlike previous technologies that created new jobs to replace automated ones, any jobs created in response to AI could theoretically also be automated by AI itself, making it categorically different from past technological disruptions.
