AI doesn't know how to forgive and cannot forget

AI systems cannot forget or forgive because they lack the biological substrate and architectural design for either capability. While human forgetting is a gradual decay process, AI systems store information across four mechanisms—weights, context windows, retrieval stores, and logs—none of which naturally fade, making the legal "right to be forgotten" nearly impossible to implement in machine learning systems. When neural networks do forget, they experience catastrophic forgetting (abrupt loss rather than graceful decay), which is fundamentally different from human memory and makes forgiveness as a learned skill impossible for machines.
