Africa's Wild Dogs Are the Most Hated Carnivores on the Continent

African wild dogs, among the world's most endangered carnivores with only 6,600 remaining, are being actively conserved through a relocation program by the Endangered Wildlife Trust that has increased the population by over 344 in 29 years. The program reintroduces the species to wildlife reserves in countries like Mozambique and South Africa where they had disappeared, with three female dogs recently relocated to form genetically diverse packs in their new habitats. Despite being widely disliked on the continent, conservationists are working to save the species through careful monitoring and breeding initiatives.
