A Scottish study tracking over 129,000 people found that living within a 10-minute walk of an accessible urban woodland reduced the likelihood of being prescribed antidepressants by 10 percent and anti-anxiety medication by 6 percent. The research examined Scotland's Woods In and Around Towns program, which has restored nearly 30,000 acres of woodlands in deprived neighborhoods since 2005 with the goal of improving mental health through accessible green spaces.
