A domain can now say it is for sale, in DNS

RFC 10023 defines a new DNS convention allowing domain owners to signal that their registered, actively operating domains are for sale through a _for-sale TXT record, without replacing the site with a parking page or affecting normal operations. The record carries optional metadata like asking price, contact URI, and free-text notes, and is designed primarily for domain brokers and automated availability services rather than replacing WHOIS data. This addresses the gap where interested buyers have no legitimate channel to discover available domains beyond sending cold emails to redacted WHOIS contacts.
