Researchers from Disney and ETH Zurich have developed a new method for converting line art and sketches into vector graphics by combining 2D Gaussian splatting with Bézier spline modeling. The technique uses depth prediction and semantic feature extraction to intelligently extract strokes from raster images, then optimizes both the geometric control points and brush texture for fast, high-quality rendering. The method achieves state-of-the-art results for image reconstruction while remaining compatible with user corrections and can be extended to video sequences with temporal tracking.
